London Elektricity Bio

Hello. My name is Tony Colman, and I make music and DJ under the name London Elektricity. I have been making music for most of my life, and releasing London Elektricity tunes for 12 years. My latest album is called ‘Syncopated City’ and it’s out now. I have a day job too, as CEO of the Drum+Bass label Hospital Records. Oh and if you like interesting D+B and want to hear me talk all over, it please subscribe to my Hospital Records podcast. It’s won three BT Digital Music Awards!

If you want to book me to come and play records you need to email [email protected], wherever you are in the world.

If you want to send me demos, please AIM your best two tracks to: ‘hospitaldubs’ in theory it’s on 24hr auto receive. Don’t send more than two because I only have time to check the first two tracks by any new artist. I can’t give feedback on the majority of the tunes I get sent but I promise I’ll listen to all of them, and if I like your tune enough, I’ll either play it on my podcast or if it’s so good I don’t want anyone else to hear it I’ll email you, so don’t forget to include your email address.

If you want to know what software or hardware you should buy or anything about studio techniques, how to make a hit minimal deathstep anthem using nothing but a calculator and a hymn book then check out the Production pages on HospitalRecords.com. It’ll contain all you ever needed to know to get started on the road to fame, women, men, ducks, poverty and world amen n reece domination.

London Elektricity has become a byword for groundbreaking ‘fast soul music’, ramming venues, destroying crowds and leaving huge smiles from the Big Chill to Glastonbury to Good Vibes and beyond. Hahaha, who could say no to that face?

I’ve been listening to London Elektricity ever since I discovered Logistics, which was midway through 2006. Best music to help whittle away the time in between college classes! Born to Synthesize is probably my favorite, and whenever I’m flipping forward … forward … forward through my iPod when I’m on the road, I have to stop when it lands on it. I’d love one day to be able to make music like this.

    Dear Tony,
I working as the doctor on a cruise ship in the Baltic this summer, spending time in Copenhagen, St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Kiel, etc. I want to go to any clubs along my itinerary where I can here/see drum and bass. Do you have any suggestions? You have made some comments on your podcast about the music scene in St. Petersburg and that is where I’ll have the greatest opportunity to get off the ship during the evening.

The podcast is great and I look forward to every new issue. I especially like your words of encouragement to people who are going through a rough patch such as an illness, and to the occasional birth (expected or accomplished) announcements! You are a force for good in the world.

Tony, you are my favourite dj / music master / human of all time. It was insanely awesome getting to see you in Christchurch NZ for the 2nd time last weekend, dropping my fave tune at the moment (Mellow) and signing a poster for me and my man was the highlight of my life.
We get precious few sets like yours in NZ and it was a night to be remembered!

Massive respect for all you do, and for playing Shapeshifter on their home turf! And us POMs get a fair bollocking sometimes here, you represented by bringing the noise good and proper!
