There is quite a hot debate currently and several heated ideas as to whether or otherwise to take delivery of the ##keyword## . In case you get it? Precisely what components when you take into account before you make your choice? The objective of this article is in order to think about the pros, negatives as well as options you’ve.

  2. Hi, just wondering how many times you visit Manchester, i rarely see you guys have a gig in Manchester, infact to be honest I cant say I have ever had the pleasure of telling people “Ive been to a hospitality”.
I do hope i will be corrected by yourselves and you will reply with “we always go Manchester” but untill then PLEASE go!

    Peace

  3. Philbo says:

Microsoft, I mean Marmite - LOVE it or HATE it????

  4. Dugy09 says:

i got a real nasty responce when i asked a canadian dj to play some dnb whilst i was in xarnia(crete)we ended up arguing because he said its thugs music and it makes people angry (i wasnt angry or thugish i was just shocked and disapointed haha). this seems to be the general consensus from the majority of people i meet in britain and in the numerous countrys i visit due to my line of work.

before i get to my question i want to say that i always direct these narow minded individuals strait to the hospital website were i hope theyl see the error of there ways and realise that drum and bass is about peace and happynes not anger and violence.

anyway my first question to all is where did this steriotype of drum and bass originate and do you think it will ever be broken.

secondly were can i visit for a holiday with drum and bass clubs because im sick to death of hardcore and popy mainstream remixes evrywere i go.

tyhanks for taking the time to read my post keep up the amaizing work. Dugy

  5. JamesP93 says:

Hello Guys, Loving the work i listen to the podcast everyday on my bus to school.

    a) You were staring through the Red Mist?

    b) ALL HELL WAS BREAKING LOOSE?

    c) or simply put, your needles started skipping muchly.

Keep up the good work lads.

  6. petegdesign says:

whats the worst experience you ever had djing?

    or

    whats you most embarrassing story?

(chop up all the answers and paste them together to make a completely new story?)

    Peterpan

  7. redstefff says:

You fail to turn up for an interview. whoops! What does your sick note say was wrong with you…?

  8. samLE says:

would you prefer someone to buy your record and not go to your gig?
or download your record illegally, but go to your gig?

  9. lenny3 says:

“Sick question: Are you (a) a tough guy, or (b) do you dance?
Follow up question: Would you please demonstrate either (a) your tough-guy pose, or (b) your wicked dance skills?”

i like this one better than mine. i should repost it and see if i win with your question

  10. dirty_c says:

Have you ever made love to one of your own records?

  11. samLE says:

if u werent a dj, what would you be?

why is there not a hospitality night in manchester?

any chance high contrast is makin a suprise appearance at wakestock?

why do you call your son the chairman on podcasts?

  12. paul92 says:

“What was the first drum and bass song you listened to? and how did it come about?”

“What sort of things inspire you to make your tunes?”

“What motivates you the most to keep producing?”

“How long, on average, does it take you to produce a tune to the state when it is released?”

“Who is your favourite drum and bass producer of all time? and why?”

    “DO YOU LIKE PLUGINS?”

  13. djb64 says:

If you had only one day to live (e.g. a large meteorite was going to slam into the planet and wipe it out) , how would you spend it ???

    bit deep but …

  14. Mumples says:

Sick question: Are you (a) a tough guy, or (b) do you dance?
Follow up question: Would you please demonstrate either (a) your tough-guy pose, or (b) your wicked dance skills?

  15. Emi. says:

Just a few thoughts from me.

    - What’s your all-time favorite song? If you have multiple, what are they? Any particular reason why?

    - Most embarrassing moment you’ve had while playing?

    - Do you ever make a new tune and just know that it’s going to take off really well?

    - As far as music is concerned, who do you look up to?

    - Who’s been the biggest influence in your music career? (Family, S.O., friends?)

I can’t think of anymore halfway decent questions. If I had the chance I’d love to at least ask them all the first and third ones.

    Take care,

    Emi

Edit: I managed to come up with a few more.

  16. DdotP100 says:

Nu:Tone - Do you “Believe” in yourself? Do you think appearing on Sick music was a “Stange encounter”?

  17. Scuba says:

    Question:

Which is your favourite episode of Italian Spiderman?

If you haven’t yet experienced the pure awesome-ness of Italian Spiderman, here is a link to the first episode.

I guarantee it will make you giggle.

    Episode 1:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvNLlwkwP64

There are only 10 episodes, about 5 minutes each. Legendary stuff. My personal favourite is episode 9.

  18. Martin_Francis says:

If you are sick with man flu, what is your best home made remedy?

    and
Which are better Quavers, Monster Munch or Wotsits?

  19. daniel_slatkin says:

    Here’s a question

How did you first get involved with Hospital Records?

Keep up the great work Tony

  20. Easy says:

@ Verb - it isn’t a rip off. It’s a homage, which is pretty explicit in that I think in the second breakdown he directly samples a very short clip of a Burial tune. And Burial-style D&B? You think that isn’t something a bit different? There are two types of innovation - doing almost totally your own thing within the scene (see: Calibre, Instra:mental), and merging styles and influences that haven’t been brought together before (see: Emtpy Streets by Cyantific).

  21. Mister F says:

I’ve got a question for each artist:

Do you dye your hair and if so what’s your favourite colour?

    Tar

  22. elemence says:

When you heard one of your tracks would be included in the Sick music compilation, how did it influence your decision to make or choose a track?

In other words, did you try to make a particularly ‘sick’ sounding tune specifically for this compilation, or did you just a choose an already existing track for another high-quality Hospital comp?

Cheers for the podcasts Tony! Keep ‘em coming…

    Elemence

  23. fishtoasty says:

Simple question really, do you prefer mcdonalds or would you rather hunt down a burger king whilst your on the move??

  24. cheekychappie says:

Have you ever felt the need to prostitute yourself to promote a new tune?

    ta, Cheeky.

  25. Verb says:

Can you ask Cyantific why they chose to rip off a mercury music award nominee? This is’nt original, just a bit of a shame in all honesty. I expect more from a label that promotes original music. Try again…

  26. hosepipe says:

Cyantific ripping off Burial is sick. Breaking the mould? I think not. Not a hater, just dissapointed.

  27. matt stewart 90 says:

whats your all time favorite song?

  28. stusmith says:

    To Tony,

Firstly I would like to say I am a big hospital fan, The new era of Hospitality at Matter has smashed it, cannot wait for the 3rd edition in July.

My question to all the Siick music artists,

If you could pick one tune, that constantly kills it off it a club, what would it be and why? Would this be a personal preference, or something that ever raver knows and enjoys?

I know it will probably get released on Marky’s label, but Tapestry by Marky and Spy definetely needs more air time, or a short airing on your next podcast.

Keep up the good work, let the rhythm flow and the good times roll.

    Stu Smith

P.S Keep it real, Keep it Vinyl

  29. ArkeeDUB says:

Also…is it “Sick Music” or “Siick Music”? It seems to be “Sick” but the T-shirts say “Siick”…sorry to be pedantic.

  30. ArkeeDUB says:

    @CEG

Thanks, I hope they are good enough to win a copy of Sick Music! I posted another question on page 2…more of a riddle this time though. Get your questions in!

  31. CEG says:

I like the guy from cape town’s questions. On page 5 I think

  32. altavek says:

can’t wait for siick music to hit the shelves!!!!

? for the siick music producers:

what was that one pivotal track that made you decide to transcend from dnb music consumer to dnb music producer?

    Keep the podcast flowing T!!

  33. Trippin says:

    For the Sick Music Djs:
What’s your favourite way to listen to dnb? when you are behind the decks or when you are one of the crowd, or relaxing at home?

How did dnb change you or your life?

And one for the Hospital team, when is the Sick Music album coming out on download?

Loving the podcasts. Makes commuting a hell of a lot easier!

    Trippin

  34. londonelektricity says:

    lololol send a photo!

  35. Paddy O Pikey says:

keep up the gd work, paddy

  36. Googs says:

I like plugins, do you like plugins?….Sorry, couldn’t help myself.

Hey, just wondering if there is going to be a Siick Tour downunder? We would love to have a big dnb event or festival in Australia, preferably in Melbourne! Hey Tony, maybe this is something to look into for the future…Hospitality in The ‘Burn??? We get the odd big name everynow and then touring with other festivals but they are mainly swamped with house djs and bands but it would be great to have a festival dedicated to the greatest music in the history of well…music. Ps. Agreed…early Brahms was rubbish.

  37. artoo says:

So as I write to you I have just been laid off from my current job. This makes it the second lay off in 6 months. But none of that matters because I know in about a weeks time I will be arriving in Melbourne by way of San Francisco to see you perform live at the Espy. Thank you for being the go-to podcast during the dreadful 6 months of worthless work.

Your music has been my inspiration for yet another self rebrand as yet another job seeking graphic designer.

    http://www.r2works.net (shameless)

  38. steelminds says:

Has being included in this Siick music album managed to exclude you, or pick you up from the dooms and glooms of the UK, due to the ‘man’ causing the notorious financial crisis?

    James.

  39. hazdaman100 says:

    #########
    My question is….

Have you ever had an embarassing siiickness??!! and what was it!!!??

  40. mogo says:

You’ve been chatting up Siick Music for a while now, playing the best cuts etc on the podcasts and delays have been mentioned. My question is, what exactly goes into making a fresh new copilation and what takes so long after you’ve sorted out the tracklist etc. Interested in vehind the scenes stuff you guys do at Hospital, as you seem to do it pretty effin’ well!

    See you in July boss,

    Mogo

  41. Brian Yunker says:

    Hey Tony,
Are your wife and kids(if you have children) are into dnb as much as you are? Do they enjoyed so much as you do? Do you play it all the time at yours house?

Long live dnb, saludos (greetings)to everybody in Hospital HQ

    Brian

  42. Dicho7omy says:

    Daddy or chips?

  43. ArkeeDUB says:

Your being chased by a rabid mob of Hospital fans because they want the three copies of the Sick Music TP’s you have somehow managed to acquire through sustained and successful networking…but you come to a flimsy looking rope bridge that has a weight limit equal to yourself plus two of the records. If you try to cross the bridge carrying all three records the bridge will collapse. How do you escape to the safety of Jasmines?

I will email the answer to this to Riley in case any of the producers read this.

  44. Riley says:

    lol, very good timeless…

  45. Keyflow says:

Is creativity something that lives inside you or something you live inside?

    KF (NZ)

  46. mat7thew says:

a+ for the podcast…tony, would you give a shout out to my co-worker heather? she’s a righteous bird who is now in tune with dnb…please give her a notorious shout-out…cheers

  47. DJ Alpha says:

Not related to this topic, but just wondering the reason behind not releasing some big tracks on vinyl separately rather than in a 5-piece for example. I only play vinyl, and it will always be that way, however so many of my mates have started playing cds due to the cost of purchasing plates… The other day I went to purchase Calibres 5-piece and it was going to cost around NZ$80 (!!!) to get it here.. to be honest there was only a few tracks i really wanted. But those tracks I REALLY did want to get, and its such an average reality that other DJs will be able to play those tracks in their sets because they purchase them off Beatport for $2. Anyway just my annoyed thoughts spoken on a public forum, but if you could explain the reasoning (besides money of course) behind putting a massive track on a 5 piece for example?? It just makes people less likely to keep playing records, which means there are less proper DJs left in the world… which is sad… Peace.

  48. Helldhaz says:

What genres of music do you enjoy listening to other than d&b (“a bit of everything” is *not* a valid answer)? Would you consider incorporating them into your tunes, or indeed have you already?

  49. Kiinnostus says:

Have you ever been in surgery? And why did you participate in this siick thing?

  50. lenny3 says:

as “hospital surgeons”, what is it like to know you get to save peoples’ lives on a daily basis??

  51. hugo60 says:

Do you feel influenced in your musical interest by family/friends (if so how), or did you develop the interest yourself?

“I’ve nearly got 1500 followers, whooopie”

That made me crack up lol

  52. Kanish says:

A rather uncommon question perhaps, but interesting in my opinion.

    - What limits D&B for YOU!(the artist ofc) - what is drum and bass for you? What would we see you do, and what wouldn’t we hear you make? …. A debat of zilian of sub d&b cultures we are seeing these days perhaps )))

I just see a growing spreading within d&b, music like london does, stuff that Danny Byrd does .. the upcmin genres that i like to call sky-dnb (such as the tracks by seba) - i just wanto hear mabeh what the arists believe in, since ihear allot of people are experimenting these days.

// Shout out for d&b lovers, and i only wish to see this on the interview (: - Danneh

  53. stoko says:

DUBSTEP is it good because shit people don’t like it?…. do you think it will last like dnb or fizzle out? is it the missing link like an underground dance yeti?

  54. E-Dub89 says:

    Here’s my Sick question:

What is your favorite non-D n’ B track at the moment, that you cant get out of your head?

Great 86th podcast, Tone, and a big up to Riley for doing what he does.

Peace in the middle east. (/|\)

  55. Junglist1001 says:

    Fancy a mix Tony?

Two belt drive stantons and a vetsax mixer

  56. Kanish says:

Ah tits, it copy’d my question****

  57. LowViscosity says:

Is this new venture by Hospital going to fix the public health system across the world?

love the tunes by the way!

  58. eManZero says:

Which three tracks would you recommend to someone who hadn’t listened to drum and bass before to get them completely hooked?

    Wicked podcast again y’all.

    Ed

  59. Funok says:

and now my question… the question plagues myself for years…

do you think dnb will ever be mainstream / commercial????

    Hope your answers are: …..NOT…!!!

    Cheers Funok

  60. Funok says:

    Hey tom_p,

your comment has touched my soul… i have the same minds and feelings about dnb like you… i am studying hotel management and i always have the feelings what there could be if i would quid the job and spend my time for djing / producing dnb…

    bless you Funok

    i’m definetly still there

  74. duff says:

Whats the sickest you have ever been?

Mine is probably food poisoning last year in Bangkok which was horrendous. Or when I got sun stroke whilst being very, very drunk and couldn’t find my way out of my mosquito net around my bed that resulted in terrible consequences. Nice!

  75. subfugitive says:

Has there ever been a tune you’ve worked on that made you absolutely wretchingly sick?

    or

If you’ve ever made music whilst sick, how did being sick affect the music you made?

  77. Boogaloo Thom says:

    Best podcast yet tony….

    very very entertaining lol

    love the new seba tune…
why is it that every single amazing tune i hear on the podcast is going to be on sick music…. its just not fair tony, Making us wait for what seems like an eternity…. whilst teasing us every two weeks by dangling the carrot of sick music hope infront of us, with 2 tunes per podcast….

saying this though. please dont stop…. its awsome music, and i cant wait. as soon as pre orders are up. i am straight on it. been waiting for beautiful lies for like 3 months now!

what kind of music would you produce?

  83. Easy says:

It’s a video interview, so clearly: what’s the series of facial expressions you make when you hear the sickest track you’ve heard for absolutely months? Their ‘sick face’, as it were. Sick face must last for at least 5 seconds and change drastically at least once.

  84. tom_p says:

I’m a student studying chemistry at uni. Music has always been a big part of my life but I never decided to push it to the forefront and make it part of my career.

Now that I’m nearing the end of a course that I don’t particularly like, I’m thinking what the hell am I going to do with my life!? Do I take what I’ve always loved doing (listening to/playing/making music) or just go into a ‘normal’ job?

This is for the ones who “quit their day job”, like Mistabishi, and went dnb full time. What was it that caused you to make the decision? What made you think it’s time to take it all seriously rather than something you do in your spare time?

Thanks, guys. Can’t wait for the album, it’s gonna be sick!

  85. Maltos says:

You should definately ask them all how they’re feeling…

Then if any respond with “siiiiick” then then an applause is mandatory.

  86. xanadu says:

Should the table tennis table be reinstated at the hospital HQ?

  87. Kutuzov says:

    Do you like borsch?

  88. EdLazenby says:

A few days ago I found myself needing to enjoy a relaxing dump whilst at work. However, much to my dismay it turned out that the hair on my arse had somehow become intertwined and glued together - with what I guess must have been a mixture of dry sweat and shite. I nevertheless determined to persevere. After a good while straining, the relentless pressure of my faeces eventually forced a hole through my stubborn anal pubes. Unfortunately, the hole was not facing the toilet bowl, and my turd shot out at an acute angle, splattering the seat, the floor and the cubicle wall.

Tony (and other artists), using your world renowned vocabulary, could you please let me know the best way I can describe this bemusing incident?

    Thanks

  89. Gethin says:

    Got a couple for you:

    1. If you had to collaborate with any of the Muppets, or Sesame Street Characters, who would you choose and why?

    2. If you were and MP, what outrageous expense would you try and claim?
